The First Mile: 45 Riders, One Beginning
One inaugural ride. Forty-five riders. The beginning of something bigger than any of us expected.

There is a distinct anxiety that comes with hosting an inaugural group ride. You map the route, scout the stops, and share the details across social media, but until kickstands go up, you’re trapped in a guessing game. Will anyone actually show up? Are five people going to roll out, or will we get a dozen?
As it turns out, the motorcycle community had a much bigger answer waiting for us.
When the dust settled at our meetup spot, 45 riders had rolled in, engines rumbling and energy high. Bikes of every shape, size, and style filled the lot. From seasoned touring veterans to riders on their very first group excursion, the collective vibe matched our core mission: All bikes welcome. No ego. Just the road ahead.
Phase 1: Staging and the Pre-Ride Buzz
The energy before a big ride is contagious. Helmets balanced on handlebars, hands shaking, and introductions between strangers who, by the end of the day, would be riding together.
We gathered the crew for a safety briefing—especially important with a group this size—reviewed hand signals and gave a shout-out to our support team and those who came to ride with us, including the crew from NJ Motorcycle Cruisers.
Then, engines fired up across the lot. Kickstands up. It was time to roll.
The Route: From Wawa to the Highlands
Our inaugural route was designed to offer a little of everything: sweeping curves, scenic vistas, and stops to stretch our legs.
Wawa · South Hackensack, NJ
Harriman State Park · Seven Lakes Drive · Bear Mountain · Perkins Memorial Drive
Westy’s Tavern · Highland Falls, NY
We rode through the heart of Harriman State Park, enjoyed the winding scenery of Seven Lakes Drive, passed Bear Mountain, and climbed Perkins Memorial Drive before heading into Highland Falls.
More Than Just Miles
Pulling into Westy’s Tavern, with motorcycles outside and conversations continuing over lunch, it hit us what The First Mile actually meant. This wasn't just a group chasing curves—it was a community forming in real time through shared roads and shared stories.
We started Next Mile Moto to build a place where the joy of the ride comes before the brand of your bike or the years on your license. Seeing riders look out for one another and enjoy the day together showed us that genuine motorcycle community is alive and well.
This was just Mile One. We have a lot more asphalt to cover.
